Suppression of 0 and J = in High - Energy Heavy
نویسنده
چکیده
The experimental ratio of 0 to J== is approximately a constant in pA collisions, but decreases as the transverse energy increases in nucleus-nucleus collisions. These peculiar features can be explained as arising from approximately the same c c-baryon absorption cross section for 0 and J== but greater disruption probabilities for 0 than for J== due to the interaction of the c c system with soft particles produced in baryon-baryon collisions.

J/ψ Suppression as a Signal for the Quark-Gluon Plasma
We review the search for the quark-gluon plasma using the signal of the suppression of J/ψ production in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. Recent anomalous J/ψ suppression in high-energy Pb-Pb collisions observed by the NA50 Collaboration are examined and compared with earlier results from pA and nucleus-nucleus collisions with heavy ions of smaller mass numbers. The anomalous suppression of J/...
متن کاملTomography of high-energy nuclear collisions with photon-hadron correlations.
Within the next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD (PQCD) parton model, suppression of away-side hadron spectra associated with a high pT photon due to parton energy loss is studied in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. Because of the sharp falloff of the gamma-jet spectrum in momentum imbalance pTjet-pTgamma>0 in NLO PQCD, hadron spectra at large zT=pTh/pTgamma greater than approximately 1...
متن کاملJ== and 0 Suppression in Hadronic Matter
We present a microscopic calculation of the breakup cross sections of J== and 0 on pions and nucleons as a function of the kinetic energy. These cross sections are used for the investigation of the J== to continuum and 0 =J== ratios in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. The contribution of produced comoving pions to the 0 =J== signal is calculated. While this model can account for the data...
متن کاملA NLO analysis on fragility of dihadron tomography in high energy AA collisions
The dihadron spectra in high energy AA collisions are studied within the NLO pQCD parton model with jet quenching taken into account. The high pT dihadron spectra are found to be contributed not only by jet pairs close and tangential to the surface of the dense matter but also by punching-through jets survived at the center while the single hadron high pT spectra are only dominated by surface e...
متن کاملEnergy loss for heavy quarks in relation to light partons: is radiative energy loss for heavy quarks anomalous?
The scaling properties of jet-suppression measurements are compared for nonphotonic electrons (e+/-) and neutral pions (pi(0)) in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[S(NN)]=200 GeV. For a broad range of transverse momenta and collision centralities, the comparison is consistent with jet quenching dominated by radiative energy loss for both heavy and light partons. Less quenching is indicated for heavy qua...
